Hepworth Gallery Opens in Wakefield

This has been very exciting news for Wakefield – the gallery opened on 21st May 2011 being the largest art gallery in the UK to be built for almost 50 years. The gallery brought many art lovers to Yorkshire and Leeds was no exception during the opening weekend.  Serviced apartments and hotels were busy as the influx of visitors increased ready for the opening.  The Hepworth is named after Barbara Hepworth, a native of West Yorkshire who is renowned in the art world for her acclaimed sculptures. The Grand Theatre in Leeds

Leeds is the host city of one of the Victorian era’s most spectacular theatre and opera houses and extremely lucky that many celebrated shows and operas come to Leeds.  The theatre has a remarkable history, constructed in 1878 in the famed New Briggate area of the city, its design is a spectacular mix of European inspiration incorporating a number of styles including, Baronial, Gothic and Romanesque influences. Russell Kane in Leeds

If you are lucky enough to have tickets to see Russell Kane at the Carriageworks in Leeds on the weekend of 26th February 2011 it promises to be a ‘good laugh’.  After winning the Foster’s Edinburgh Festival Award 2010 Russell Kane has gone from strength to strength in the comedy world.  (more…)
